Why I love this honey garlic shredded chicken recipe

Quick and Easy

I’ve gotta say, I have moments where I wish I can just buy jarred sauces that you find in a typical grocery store and make an easy tasty meal with them. I do miss that convenience.

I definitely do not miss the way I would feel after eating a standard American meal, but definitely the simplicity.

Now, this recipe does have one or two extra steps than just cooking chicken in jarred sauce. But trust me, it only takes a few more minutes, and it is 100 percent worth it!

Plus with the help of the instant pot, it’s incredibly easy and quick. Only ten minutes cooking time!

Tasty and healthy

Store bought sauces may be convenient but most often are filled with unhealthy ingredients, like corn syrup.

This sauce is all natural, made with whole ingredients. And better than any honey garlic sauce you’ll find in the grocery store!

And gosh I love it when I make a recipe that the whole family enjoys. My kids really loved this one!

  1. Absolutely loved this!! Used a fresh bird from my minifarm, because it’s what I had on hand…so tender!! Broth flavor is subtle, not overpowering – might use more garlic next time, just because…😁
    Love, love, love it!!

  2. This looks amazing. But I have always heard that raw honey is medicine and cooked honey is toxic. Could I sub something else for honey?

    • hmm I have never heard that! Unfortunately the only substitute I can think of is maple syrup but that would alter the taste significantly, making it maple garlic chicken – might be good?

  3. How would this cook in a crock pot?

In answer to the comment to the honey becoming toxic after heating. It is not toxic, it’s just that if you heat it to a certain level it removes the good properties. I am going to change the recipe a bit & stir the honey in after all other ingredients have been cooked with the chicken. I will then add honey as I warm it up to prepare to serve.
